The Dick Van Dyke Show
Considered by many as one of the best sitcoms of all time, The Dick Van Dyke Show was created by Carl Reiner (who played Rob Petrie’s seldom-seen boss, Alan Brady) and ran on CBS from 1961 to 1966. The series made stars of both Van Dyke and his sitcom wife, Mary Tyler Moore – who was almost completely unknown before being cast in this role. (Trivia: In the pilot, Reiner played Rob Petrie himself – but after watching the result concluded, on his own, that he was not good enough to play the part. When he went to recast, Johnny Carson just barely lost out to Van Dyke for the part of Petrie.) We have most of the series episodes below.
