The Lone Ranger
“A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty Hi-Yo Silver! Away!…” The Lone Ranger may not have been the most popular Western on American TV, but it might be the most remembered. The story revolves around the mysterious masked man, his faithful Indian companion and their efforts to maintain law and order in the Wild West. Clayton Moore played the title character, with Jay Silverheels, a member of the Mohawk tribe in Canada, playing his American Indian companion Tonto. It ran on ABC from 1949 to 1957; we have the last season – the only one filmed in color – below.
