What I do love about politics and each election cycle is seeing fresh faces, underdogs, or rising stars get into the fray, and sometimes win. In Mississippi, rising star Rodney Hall was overshadowed this week by internecine battles among conservatives and Republicans over who should be the GOP standard bearer. As there is not much of a standard these days, there’s not much to fight over in my opinion. But we do what we do.

In the music world, an unknown folk singer shoots into the stratosphere and deserves the attention. Another stratospheric personality who did not deserve the attention she has received appears to be getting her comeuppance.

It’s the Week that Was… fascinating.
