Tom Woods on Ron Paul’s legacy

Sabrin Murray 2.26.18 04

GOP political operative Roger Stone just said something we wouldn’t have expected him to say even ten years ago:

“There is no person alive today more deserving of the Presidential Medal of Freedom than Ron Paul. That’s why I started this petition urging President Trump to award him this great honor.”

(Now this is Roger Stone, after all, so it looks as if by signing the petition I’m also adding myself to his mailing list. Clever.)

On Stone’s Substack he adds Pat Buchanan as another worthy recipient:

Buchanan and Paul each deserve the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, for doing yeoman’s work to put America First.

This would serve many important functions. Affirming the legacies of Buchanan and Paul as national heroes further cements President Trump’s own legacy as the master and commander of the Republican Party. It throws more dirt on the neocons who destroyed America for their own megalomaniacal ambitions. It makes abundantly clear which trajectory the Party is heading.

And most importantly of all, it is the right thing to do. Buchanan and Paul are two figures who have been repeatedly vindicated over time, and it is time for these legends to be properly honored for showing that good men of conscience fighting against the odds and toiling in the shadows can help change the course of history.

It’s interesting that Stone would say the neocons “destroyed America for their own megalomaniacal ambitions.”

And incidentally, long before there was Trump Derangement Syndrome, there was Ron Paul Invisibility Syndrome.

Jon Stewart wondered during Dr. Paul’s GOP presidential campaigns: “When did Ron Paul become the thirteenth floor of a hotel?”

My favorite example involves MSNBC, which was reporting on second-quarter fundraising during the 2012 election cycle. Dr. Paul had come in second place in fundraising, with a $4.5 million haul.

Notice anything missing here?

So yes, in the same way that it is a triumph for Tulsi Gabbard, absurdly and idiotically smeared as a “Russian asset,” to become Director of National Intelligence, it would be an extraordinary turn of events for the man they tried to blot out to now receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

(If this is a genuine effort, by the way, I recommend making sure the funding for the medal is private — while in Congress, Dr. Paul voted against awarding these medals on the grounds that taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for them.)

This is a good time to remind you that as a matter of fact I’ll be speaking alongside Dr. Paul at his Ron Paul Institute event next month in Lake Jackson, Texas, and I hope you’ll join me there (there’s an early-bird discount going on right now): https://www.eventbrite.com/e/america-in-the-age-of-trump-20-tickets-1230673199669

Another thing: we should soon enough be treated to the confirmation hearing of Jay Bhattacharya as director of the National Institutes of Health.

Jay is such an impressive guy, and absolutely unflappable. He will come across extremely well in the hearing, especially in contrast to the hysterical harpies who will be screaming at him.

Speaking of, Jay evidently just met with Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), who is all upset about budget cuts. In her statement about their meeting, she misspelled Jay’s name all three times she used it.

The poor guy must be thinking, as he sits through these meetings, “Why me?”

Well, in advance of his hearing, pick up my book Diary of a Psychosis: How Public Health Disgraced Itself During COVID Mania, which features a foreword by Jay himself, and realize that a book like this is endorsed by the director of the National Institutes of Health.

What a world!

Is Trump becoming a libertarian? His call for a 50% reduction in defense spending is spot on! His deregulation EOs are spot on! His call for less government spending and lower taxes are spot on!
