An excellent Wall Street op-ed about the Durham Report should trigger former president Trump to sue everyone in the FBI, Congress, former federal government officials, and media lackeys for defamation who alleged he colluded with Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign. The scores of dishonest and lying individuals—many probably claim to be people of faith–must be held accountable for disregarding a key component of the Judeo-Christian ethic. Otherwise, our much-touted democracy will be relegated to the dustbin of history.
You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness. You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice, nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his lawsuit.— Exodus 23:1-3
Lying to the FBI is felony under 18 U.S.C. 1001. What about public officials lying to the American people? There must be symmetry in our laws. Lying is lying no matter who does it. We must hold government officials accountable. Lord Acton’s insight is spot on.
Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority: still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority.
Here is a list of the “guilty” circulating on the internet based on the findings of the Durham Report. Government officials—whether elected or appointed—should be removed from office if they violate a fundamental oath they took to uphold the rule of law. A free society must have a very limited government and confined to protecting life, liberty, and property. And so-called journalists who peddled the FBI’s lies should be removed from their positions as well. One “reform” worth considering in the meantime is abolishing the FBI. Heads must roll.
