Gavin Newsom’s great state of California will delay the reopening of any counties that don’t meet the state’s new health equity metric. Dr. Mark Ghaly, California’s health secretary, has explained that this metric is vital to addressing COVID-19 infection rates and other health disparities that are due to socioeconomic factors and access to health care. The goal is to bring the numbers in a county’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods more in line with the county’s overall level. Dave gives his thoughts on this and the never-ending lockdown.
