Mark Doyle was embedded with US forces in Afghanistan for a year. It changed his life and gave him a clear eyewitness view of what we were doing, undoing, and failing at on the ground. The troops he met did their jobs with honor and met the mission daily. The mission was the problem.

We had to go. We should not have stayed.
